What could be more pleasant than spending a balmy summer evening in the garden? The problem, however, is often that mosquitoes can spoil such an evening considerably. This is part of nature, of course, but there are also anti-mosquito plants and you can make use of them to get extra peace and quiet on your terrace.
1. Lemon plant
Mosquitoes do not like the fresh scent of lemon. Therefore, there are many anti-mosquito remedies based on that principle . The best-known anti-mosquito plant is lemonbrass. You can use it in the garden as well as in a pot in the room or bedroom. Lemongrass is a very easy plant to grow. You can buy it in supermarkets and tokos. Cut away the dead bits and put the stems in water. Within a few weeks, they take root. Lemongrass is also still suitable as a seasoning in a number of oriental dishes.
2. Marigold
Marigolds don’t have a distinct or striking smell, but mosquitoes hate this plant. This is a pleasant phenomenon because this plant is also simply decorative in the garden and requires little care. Marigolds can also be put in a good-sized pot, and this makes it possible to protect a balcony from those troublesome thorns. There is no point in rubbing the plant sap on your skin because the effect does not rely on the smell or taste of the sap.
